Celtic Rugby Union League
Instituted in 2001, the RaboDirect PRO12, also known as the Pro 12, is a rugby union league contested by twelve teams from countries including Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. This league has also been known as the Celtic League and the Magners League. For the 2011/12 season, the sides that are competing include: Leinster, Ospreys, Munster, Glasgow Warriors, Cardiff Blues, Treviso, Scarlets, Ulster, Edinburgh, Connacht, Newport-Gwent Dragons and Aironi.
Since the Magners sponsorship has ended, the RaboDirect started in the 2011/12 season and this will last for four seasons. Munster are the current holders after winning the title in the 2010/11 season. Ospreys and Munster have won the most titles so far after winning the league three times each. We at Rugby Shirt Blog will provide the latest information on Celtic League rugby shirts that are released.
The league format takes place between September and May, with each side play each other twice; one home game and one away. At the end of the league season, the top four sides go into a tournament, with semi-final and final matches taking place. The winner is declared at the Grand Final, which takes place at a venue chosen by the team who finishes top of the league.
